As the build out of the Marcellus Shale extraction industry continues at a rapid pace in Pennsylvania, more communities are experiencing the effects of this industry in their communities. The anticipated expansion to over 1,000 new extraction wells per year to feed the ethane cracker plant and associated petrochemical industry raises alarming concerns to citizens unprepared for the intense industrialization of formerly rural and residential communities. This forum organized by a group of concerned citizens has a focus on presenting the facts in the context of community rights and options. Knowledge is power. Holding local zoning officials accountable for public health and safety is an important part of this process.
